Measuring Tips to Assure the Best Fit

Buying clothing online is hard, we understand!  To help you, instead of providing a vague clothing chart that relates our sizes to industry-random numbers, we decided to give you the exact sizes of our shirts.  The easiest way to decide what size to order is to find your favorite shirt, lay it out and measure it as shown.  Take those numbers and match them to our size chart!  We haven’t experienced much shrinkage with our shirts, but our manufacturer says that you can expect up to a half-size shrinkage, so if you think it might be close, you may wish to move up a size (this is especially true for 100% cotton shirts).

This is the measurement from seam to seam across the front (or back) of a shirt taken about one inch below the arm hole.

This is the measurement from the highest point of the shoulder seam to the bottom hem.

Notes About Sizing

Our garments are not preshrunk so you might experience minimal shrinkage. According to our manufacturer, you can expect your shirts to shrink up to a half-size. We’ve never actually experienced this, but if this of concern to you, we suggest laying flat to dry or purchasing one size up.

Fitted Sizes

These shirts are what would traditionally be referred to as “women’s shirts”. We have changed our language to be inclusive of all genders and will, therefore, refer to them as fitted shirts. These shirts tend to run smaller than shirts marked “unisex” as they are cut smaller through the waist.

Enclusive Sizing

In every style we use, we order every size available to us. For most styles, this gives us a range from X-Small to 3XL. While the variance in style and sizes gives us a wealth of options for you to choose from, we recognize that this does not necessarily accommodate every body size and shape. The ethical standards that we have set for the company severely limits us in may ways including color, style, and most regrettably, sizing options. We recognize this lack and are constantly searching for a manufacturer that can provide larger sizes without compromising our commitment to eco- and social-friendly practices.
